Why do you need to be a millionaire when all you desire is to be financially comfortable or independent?

The consequential truth that other financial influencers don’t tell you is that it takes millions to be financially comfortable or even financially independent. Why? Because there is a financial principle called the 4% rule which states that if you invest your retirement funds (freedom fund) in the stock market, assuming an average return of 6% annually, you could withdraw 4% of that fund annually, adjusted for inflation, for 30-40  years or more. So assuming you start withdrawing money at 65, your money would last until you’re 95-105 years old.

Using the same 4% rule, if you had $1 million in your freedom fund you could withdraw $40,000 per year (4% x $1M). If you had $2M in your freedom fund you could withdraw $80,000 per year. If you had $3M in your freedom fund you could withdraw $120,000 a year. And so on. However, given that inflation has averaged about 2.5% annually the amount you’d need to live on could be significantly higher.

As a general rule of thumb it’s going to take 25 times your current or desired salary in order for you to afford the lifestyle you desire without having to work for it directly. In short, for the majority of us, it’s going to take millions to be financially comfortable or independent.

I’m Cedric Nash and I believe that anyone, regardless of race, age, gender, education, income or financial starting point can become a millionaire, and beyond, if they’re willing to put in the effort, make the necessary sacrifices, and consistently focus on making millionaire money moves. By leveraging resources available to anyone, not  just the wealthy or connected. Nash believes that “No one’s coming to save us. Where we are financially in life is not our fault, but it’s our responsibility to fix it.” He’s committed to creating solutions for his  community and others that enables them to  blow past financial mediocrity and allow people  to become as wealthy as they desire based solely on  the level of effort and sacrifice they’re willing to put forth.

ENTREPRENEUR

Since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated with the ability to make my own money. I had two paper routes as a teenager. In college I sold personal computers and worked as a consultant for a local plastic surgeon, installing his computer network and claims processing system. I saved enough money to purchase a condominium right out of college. After just 6 years working in corporate America  for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Deloitte, and Ernst & Young, I founded Oakland Consulting Group with my savings. Now 25 years later, having reached over $90 million in revenue and with over 300 employees across two brands, I know what it takes to start and succeed as an entrepreneur

INVESTOR/ WEALTH COACH

I was fortunate enough to have four  millionaire mentors who inspired me to be an investor while I was in college. Upon graduating, I wrote a plan with a timeline for what I wanted to accomplish in my life. After only 7 years, I achieved Destination Millionaire and have continued to invest and grow my wealth ever since. As I’ve built my business over the past 25 years, I have also invested in securities, real estate, and private equity, which has provided me with the foundation of knowledge that I use to coach others. My mentors never required me to pay them for the many valuable lessons and exposure they provided me. That’s why I’ve created my free Black Wealth Growth Challenge in which I coach investors who want to build wealth and are willing to put in the work, make the necessary sacrifices, and commit to investing consistently over time. If you’re committed to building wealth, I’m committed to helping you. Sign up for our next class of Wealth Warriors and get on the journey to becoming a millionaire.

GIVING BACK

"To whom much is given, much is expected.” Giving back is powerful. It is my personal belief that when you give, God grants you favor. That favor can be in the form of a healthy fruitful life among other blessings. My parents were devoted faithful givers not only to their church, but to those in need in my community. Their giving spirit has inspired me to make giving a priority in my life. Personally and through my business, I have and continue to support several organizations to do great work in the community.
